Why local matters for a hybrid
Surplus-driven automations (water heater, EV, heat pump) need to react within seconds when a cloud passes. A five-minute cloud refresh is too slow, and it stops completely when the internet does. MoniWatt for Deye publishes to your MQTT broker every few seconds.

The energy sensors plug straight into the Energy dashboard: solar, grid in and out, battery in and out.
Automations worth setting up
- Start the water heater when export exceeds 1.5 kW for two minutes.
- Charge the EV from surplus only, pausing when the house battery falls below 60%.
- Notify when the inverter reports a fault code.
- Compare daily self-consumption across the year.
